Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island
After years of silence, Willy Wonka's magical chocolate factory is re-opening, and you've got a Golden Ticket. But when a group of misbehaving kids threaten to destroy Wonka's candy creations, he needs you to save the day. Prepare to untangle a confectionary conundrum that's full of sweet treats and sticky situations!
Poptropica Cheats for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island
Brr, cold! Walk left and talk to the kid there. He loves Wonka bars, but he doesn't have any money. Walk right, looking at the posters and talking to everyone. It looks like Willy Wonka is a candy maker, and he's giving out five golden tickets in his candy bars. The five lucky kids will receive a tour of his chocolate factory! Now run left and go to the next area, the Tenements. You can knock on the door, but they'll avoid you, thinking you're that debt collector. Walk left and click on the leftmost pay phone to nab the coin someone left in there. Head back to Main Street and you'll see that same kid come out of his house. Cabbage water for DINNER?! Anyway, keep going and enter the Corner Shop. Talk to the kid, then USE the silver coin to give it to him. He's order a Wonka's Whipple-Scrumptous Fudgemallow Delight... wow, what a mouthful! He's too excited, so you open it for him by dragging down... WHOA! It's a GOLDEN TICKET!!!
But now a crowd is gathering. People are offering him more and more for the golden ticket and complaining and trying to grab it... RUN, CHARLIE! Push the crowd away from the door by walking into them and exit the shop. Now the whole town wants a piece of him... or more exactly, what he has in his hand. Your objective is to knock over anything you can find to slow down Charlie's pursuers. The things you can knock down are: baskets of cabbages or oranges, trash cans, and banks of snow on awnings. Try to knock down as much as possible when you have the chance because there are sometimes large stretches without anything to knock. And remember to click more than once on one object to knock it over -- this is hard because the objects are moving. This game, while simple, lasts longer than you may expect. Finally, at the end, you've stopped the angry mob from tearing up Charlie like a chocolate wrapper! And now, we move on to the next morning...
Hey! A sixth golden ticket! The same group of three obnoxious people will try to catch it, but after following a long and elaborate path on the wind it'll float over left to the next area. They'll give up, but you follow it. In this area the ticket will be flying around all the time, so the easiest way to catch it will be to climb the rightmost building, where the ticket will always eventually come. When it does, simple time your jump and jump! Bear in mind that the ticket is about to speed up when it goes up slightly and then slows in the air. Now walk back right, to Main Street. Enter the heavy iron doors and meet the parents of the ticket-holders (Charlie's grandpa is on the left). They all seem a bit strange when you talk to them. Walk right and talk to the actual contest winners. They all seem like a bunch of spoiled brats, don't they? Keep going right and out will come Mr. Willy Wonka himself! He'll chat with each of the winners briefly and you can get to know them...

Enter the Factory!
Whoa, this looks nice! And look at all the candy everywhere! Uh, oh... these four rowdy kids are getting hyper just looking at it. They'll bounce around everywhere and disappear down the shaft. Wonka will tell you to find his cane... It's right to the left. Pick it up and walk back... where'd they go?! I guess you'll have to find your way yourself. Walk down the drop at the right, into the maze hub of the factory. Do NOT start exploring... you'll lose your way. At the start of the maze, you have a selection of four rooms: Chocolate, Television, Inventing, Nut. You probably have a good idea of what will happen in each room if you've read the book! To get to the desired room, you have to click on its name and then follow the pointing hand arrows until you reach it. Let's begin! (You don't have to do all four rooms in order.)
Chocolate
Walk into the Chocolate Room door and you'll be presented with a sticky scene. Augustus Gloop has just jumped into the chocolate river and is now stuck in the pipe! Talk to his mother, then turn the big valve to bring Augustus higher. Walk right and jump over to Mr. Wonka. He won't be much help if you talk to him. Jump up as high as you can go straight, then jump left and then right again to get to the green valve. Then jump left and go as far left as you can go, without falling down and only jumping up. There'll be a valve below you. Turn it, and Augustus will fly up and out of the room! The Oompa-Loompas are coming now...
They'll sing their little song, and then there's the business of getting Augustus out of the plumbing. Enter the Fudge Room. There's Mr. Gloop. Turn the green valve to get things flowing and then walk left. Jump over the giant peanut and hit the green button on the computer. Then drop off the platform to the right and drop to the lower platform. Walk right and hit the blue button, then hit the red button ahead and to the right to stop the oven when he comes there on the belt. Drop down right and he'll be coming for the oven. What you have to do here is hit the two orange buttons alternately to control which flame jets are on and which are off. Make sure to flip the switch only when Gloop is just about to touch the flame to keep your timing. At the end, he thinks it's just a wild ride. Ha! He doesn't know what trouble we went to... Remember that this needs to be done very fast. You can hit the red arrow buttons to temporarily reverse the conveyor belts, but that only works on one part for so long. You can exit into the hallways after listening to the Oompa-Loompas' song. On to the next room!

Television
Click Television and follow the arrows. The door to this room sure looks bright... GAAH! That's because the inside is super-bright! Walk left, around the giant camera, and there's Mr. Wonka, claiming to be able to send a bar of his chocolate through television. Sounds fishy -- until you see the bar vanish, and Mike Teavee zap himself through the camera! Talk to both Mike's mom and Mr. Wonka. *sigh* Those kids never listen... Run left and talk to the Oompa-Loompa by the TV screen. He appears to have lost his TV signal, I wonder why? You'll have to fix his antenna before he'll help you, so just drag the antenna ears around until you see a sharp image on the TV screen of... MIKE TEAVEE! The recipe to do this is to have the right ear pointing north-northwest and the left ear pointing west-northwest. Uh, oh! An Oompa-Loompa will come on screen and lead Mike off into the left. Follow Mike's mom into the Bubblegum Room.
Talk to the two Oompa-Loompas and to Mike's mom. It looks like they're trying to stretch him out to the right size again! It looks like you're going to have to do the operation... step up to the monitor and get working! The objective here is to stretch Mike to his original size, but here's the part Poptropica doesn't tell you: he has to be just a little bit taller than the blue flashing guide that shows up. What I did was pull him at maximum power the first two times, then make tiny adjustments each time. Mike actually shrinks when the claws have released him, so within a while he's back to the correct shape. The Oompa-Loompas are so happy... but then, they are a little weird. Exit this room through the door to the left.

Inventing
Head on over to the Inventing Room and look around. Wow, a giant gumball machine! Violet is going crazy. Jump onto one of the giant colored buttons at the foot of the machine and a gumball will come out. It's pretty tiny for the machine it was made in, but Wonka insists it's the most sensational gum in the world. Well, it certainly doesn't seem that way when Violet starts turning purple and swelling up like a blueberry! Run right and follow the Oompa-Loompas into the Juicing Room.
Oh, man! Look at that juicing machinery!!! We've got to do this right to save Violet. After the animation, walk right and talk to the Oompa-Loompa. Then click on the control panel. We have to line these up just right to squeeze the blueberry juice out of her. The panel at top shows which color fruit go near each number on the puzzle below. You have to slide the blocks to line them up correctly. The instructions are as follows:

Nut
Finally, the last room! And you know what that means: the last spoiled misbehaving brat to rescue! Walk left after talking to Wonka and pick up the Walnut. Watch the dialogue between Veruca Salt and her dad. Then watch her get onto the platform and fail to steal a squirrel. The squirrels will knock her out and send her into the garbage chute, along with her dad. Uh-oh... you're next! At least the scanner called you a Good Nut, unlike Veruca and her dad. Inside this complex-seeming mini-game, you have to stop the conveyor belts from taking you all to the furnace by moving things around the room and pulling levers. The instructions are: (video guide also available.)

The Decision
Finally, the last brat has been saved! Walk left and use the Fizzy Lifting Drink, which will lift you out the exit chute. Now go to the Chocolate Room, where you'll find Wonka and Charlie. Wonka's going to share a secret with you two: he's giving away the keys to the factory to one of you! Well, until Charlie is carried off on the chocolate river. Now you have a choice: nab the keys to the factory or save Charlie? I don't know about you, but I'm going for the second choice. In this next game, you have to get to the far side of the chocolate without falling into it. How do you do this when all the platforms are so spaced apart and sink when you jump on them? You use the whipped cream: click on the bottle in the top right and draw a platform to jump onto. Make your way to the other end like this, and remember that the whipped cream clouds also eventually collapse! When you reach Charlie, use Wonka's cane to give him something to grab onto, and pull him out. Yes, you've saved him! And the keys to the factory go to... CHARLIE! As a consolation prize, you get a lifetime supply of chocolate and an open invitation to Willy Wonka's factory, as well as the customary golden medallion.
Members-only Recipe Retrieval Bonus Quest
But wait! There's more... Three of Wonka's rivals, Slugworth, Fickelgruber, and Prodnose, have stolen many of his precious top-secret recipes! It's your job now to get into the glass elevator and bring them back to earth. Let's get in! The elevator will fly up and you will be presented with the the next mini-game. You have to fly your elevator near the rivals' planes by just pointing the mouse, the elevator will follow. It's faster than your enemies' planes and you only ever take on one plane at a time, so this is easy; however, you have only forty seconds to finish each one off! You press and hold your mouse to spray candy back behind your elevator in a path that damages enemy planes when they fly into them, and you need to collect candy fuel to do this. Candy fuel is kind of hard to find and you have to wander away from the plane you're chasing to find some, but coming back is easy since there are arrows directing you where to go. My strategy is to stay near your enemy and then come charging at them from the side or the front. This can easily be done many times in short bursts until you win. Or, you can follow the harder but quicker method, which is to follow the enemy exactly but a little to one side for a while and then start spraying while staying right on top of them. That method works best just when the enemy is moving, which is when they are slowest. This mini-game fairly short and you get the snazzy Helio-Gum for it, which makes you float momentarily. You'll surely see me in a multiplayer room chewing some of that shortly!
