Poptrickia Network Magazine September 2011 Issue (#1)

I had a strange thing happen to me a couple of days ago... while reviewing entries for Guess Where I Am, I punched in one of the usernames into the Avatar Studio, and the WEIRDEST THING EVER came up! I was a total idiot not to save it, and now it's too late since I deleted the old ones. Arr! But I'll describe it in words. There were some items like polka dots, dragon wings, goat horns, on his/her body that I hadn't seen before. Apparently they were from the canceled release of Monster Island. Let me explain some of my research. These items were accidentally leaked out in multiplayer rooms some while ago. After the Creators fixed it, if you logged on for about two weeks, they would be taken away. But if you didn't log on, they had no way. This came from a letter I found on the 'Net, by Legoless:

Ok, firstly, these items are all but impossible to get now. There was an ‘item leak’ in the multiplayer buildings. Someone managed to get their hands on unreleased items that somehow happen to be on the servers (I am guessing they came from Monster Island). So, obviously enough, they spread like wildfire.
  But when the creators finally got around to fixing it most people lost their items. If you logged on in the following 2 weeks (I don’t actually know the precise amount of time this went on for) they were removed. I hadn’t logged on in that time so, oddly enough, I got to keep the items.

This letter was a reply to an e-mail about those. It was posted publicly on an old Poptropica fansite that isn't too popular (at least on Google). I'm glad I was able to dig it up. I'm still not very clear on the history of these. The letter was from September 2008. Some of the items during this leak were

1. Unicorn horn
   
2. Face polka dots
   
3. Dragon Wings
   
4. Dragonfly wings
   
5. Body stripes
   
6. Devil horns
   

In addition to these, Legoless had the Dragon Spikes & Tail, the Bubble Brain, Goat Horns, and the dots. There are no screenshots of this happening, so there goes the proof! Hope you enjoyed my research :) And now let's start the interesting part of this magazine!

The Freak Show

I couldn't think of anything better. So give it up for... FREAKING STARFISH, our host! *audience claps, throws tomatoes*

• FS: I've invited a bunch of Poptropica Villains and Creators, along with some random citizens and the inventor of the Poptrickia Network, who prefers to have his name anonymous. Be prepared for some extreme wrongness!
  
• FS: *talking to camera crew* Cut that last part.
  
• Dr. Hare: Can we just get on with this! I was in the middle of rebuilding my rabbot to take over Spy!
  
• FS: That's kind of the reason why you're even invited.
  
• Director D: Hey, I thought Spy was my department!
  
• FS: Will everyone just SHUT UP!
  
• Thirsty Whale: No.
  
• FS: *Sigh* I'm not being paid enough for this job.
  
• ***Later, after Zeus brought in the Hydra to calm everyone down.***
  
• FS: Director D, your First Question: Is there something special *nudges Director* going on in between you and the Black Widow?
  
• DD: Not at all!
  
• FS: WRONG! Pick one: jump off a cliff or jump into anonymous's pool.
  
• DD: The pool.
  
• FS: Errhm... okay...
  
• DD: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! WHAT DO YOU KEEP IN HERE! WHAT DO YOU... CHOMP!
  
• anonymous: Hehehe... looks like my trip to Shark Tooth came in handy!
  
• FS: You just killed one of our contestants.
  
• anonymous: Whoopsie!
• Dr. Hare: So let me get this straight...
  
• FS: Uh huh...
  
• anonymous *whispering with gritted teeth* not a good idea...
  
• Dr. Hare: ...you just ask personal questions that you don't know th answers to, and you execute whoever doesn't give you an answer you like?
  
• FS: Wanna be next?
  
• Dr. Hare: *in shock* Uhh...
  
• Thirsty Whale: Rabbit meat for dinner!
  
• ***chases Hare over sunset hills***
  
• FS: Now for a round of "Poptropica's Funniest Home Videos", forcefully performed LIVE!!!
  
• ***audience roars in approval***
  
• anonymous: I think I'll be leaving...

Wouldn't you love to know what'll happen next? So would I. But now let's switch to my collection of Poptropica glitches...

I bet you didn't know HALF of these!

Glitches are almost the funniest part of any game (almost.) And fortunately, Poptropica has plenty! Here's your monthly dose of three tricks...

1. In Early Poptropica, start climbing the rope leading down to the well, then slide off before you switch rooms. Hey! You'll fall in and won't be able to jump out!
2. In Spy, inside the B.A.D. Bistro, climb onto the table and talk to the boss. You'll be stuck there tap-dancing! *NOTE! You will have to log out to be able to use your account again*
3. In Shrink Ray, after you have beat the island, and you have purchased the Shrink Ray Gun, shoot the already shrunken Mr. Silva and he will grow slightly bigger. Then click on him. You will be able to chat and battle with him if you're lucky!

Funny Bunny!

This is going to be one long run-on story about the adventures and mishaps of Dr. Hare (who has been, and still is, trying to take over Poptropica since 2008), spread across different issues! So let's begin...
ATTENTION: GEEKS ONLY!!!

It was a dark and stormy night. Thunder shook the house, and lightning lights up the sky with jagged forks of lightning. I was at my computer, developing my latest Flash game, Dr. Hare: Is he Still in Space?, when the Dr. Hare character starts acting up and moving around. I suspect it's another bug in the game, and open up the file, only to see in horror my work for the past three weeks, disappearing! (This is true. I really was making a game, but I quit after I lost all my files :(... ) Dr. Hare uses his magnet and pulls the codes down, then rushes off in the Mystery Train. Then I realize this is no bug. I had created a game so sophisticated, that the characters could think by themselves! And now Dr. Hare was downloading his evil personality from Poptropica's servers. I had to stop him before the Mystery Train took him to the real world. If he did, he could unlock the other villains from World 2! Then his robot minions would come out, and take over the world for him. This is inacceptable! I grab my Shrink Ray gun and check for ammo. The I race out into the night, in my Hydra-Blimp.

The adventure continues in Issue #2! Guess you'll just have to wait (and hope I get enough motivation to start making that game all over again.)
