And no, I'm not referring to the second-most addicting Flash game in the world. I'm referring to the second flying glitch on Poptropica -- and this one works on the modern islands! To recap, the first one was using the Back Lot Island promo clapboard item, pictured right. By clicking and holding the mouse above your Poptropican's head and repeatedly clicking the SPACEBAR, you could fly as high as you wanted! |
Now, a similar glitch is back, but on the modern islands! With any card that has a special action that only works on the ground, you can fly again (albeit more awkwardly). The Back Lot clapboard will work, or the Virus Hunter sneezing powder, or non-Members can try the fish from the Hammerhead Shark costume. Modern Island instructions: Equip the special-action item, then jump in the desired flying direction and repeatedly hit the spacebar. You'll slide in that direction horizontally across the scene. Keep the mouse button pressed while momentarily releasing the spacebar and you can gain altitude/change direction. It's very awkward, but it's the only thing we've got. And it works on hundreds of items! Challenge: Post a link to a picture of your Poptropican in the exact place as these pictured in the comments! Harder than you'd think, even with the glitch. Trick: You can talk to the conspiracy theorist on Virus Hunter without getting the Resistance Band with this.

Check out what I found on Shark Tooth Island! It's the treasury guard from Time Tangled Island... except, he seems to be utterly lost. In both space and time. However, if you go to his regular place on Time Tangled, then he's still there. Huh? This is a baffling thing to do in any case. Why are there two copies of the guard and why is one on Shark Tooth all of a sudden? Notice that he says that he should be on Time Twisted island. However, Time Twisted was renamed to Time Tangled ages ago (I think before it was even released). And Time Twisted/Tangled was released just before Monster Carnival was supposed to go live the first time in 2009; of course, it was canceled before that. So now I'm getting an idea... (extreme speculation starts here) Maybe the one on ST (the second one, let's call him the clone) was meant to be part of Time Twisted but traveled forward in time somehow. Now, since Ancient Greece existed way before Time Tangled was released, this guy still thinks he's on Time Twisted. Make sense? Now here's the idea. This guard would know about Monster Carnival, the original, since he he escaped before it was canceled. Keep an eye on him, he may be important to the quest of Monster Carnival. (end extreme speculation) Update: I did some more research and here's the true explanation... The treasury guard actually appeared there before, five years ago, to promote "Time Twisted Island," and then went away after it was released as "Time Tangled." (Monster Carnival was expected to release near this time). Now, he's back again, this time to provoke nostalgia in long-time players who would recognize Time Tangled's old name and remember the original Monster Carnival mystery. In other news... Monster Carnival Island is going to be released to Poptropica Members this coming Thursday. If you're looking for me that day, I'll be neurotically refreshing Poptropica every few seconds. Anyway, have a nice week! Today I decided I was going to finish the Time Tangled walkthrough once and for all. Actually I thought that about a week ago, but I was too lazy to complete it. And it's done now! The video walkthrough is done too but I'm having trouble uploading it. It'll be there soon. Tomorrow: 24 Carrot! |
