First of all, happy Independence Day! Today is the day that the Declaration of Independence was signed, and history was made, 238 years ago, when the U.S.A. became its own country. John Adams wrote that the Fourth of July "ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other." And today we'll be doing just that (well, probably without the guns).
