Upgraded Mythology here for Members!

UPDATE: Mythology Island is now once again here for everyone!

The upgraded version of Poptropica's most popular classic island, Mythology, is in Early Access starting today! Since this island was released before, Early Access lasts only one week. Strangely, non-Members cannot play Mythology for this week even through they could play it before!

New Mythology in a Nutshell

Music: As usual, very satisfying. Not as dynamic as some of the other upgraded islands, though. And the sound effects are a bit overdone. The music in Hades, however, is terrifyingly disturbing and you'll go mad if you listen to it too long.

Here are the main differences:

• The River Styx is easier, as the Creators mentioned. It's slightly slowed down and instead of ducking at the flaming skull, it looks like it'll go over you in a straight line but you jump when it dives down. The alligator gives no warning before attacking this time; you'll have to time the jump. All in all, it was easier, but it wasn't as dumbed-down as I feared.
• The Red Snake is waaay easier. Instead of one- or two- at a time, a whole bunch of snakes come up at a time and one of them is always red-eyed. You can complete it in ten seconds. I found it boringly easy.

Thankfully, the Zeus battle was left untouched (but it was actually a bit harder, for another reason). And the game was much more glitchy -- hey, I thought they fixed those bugs! Let me explain... (click Read More)

The Glitchiness Explained

The buggiest islands are the islands that were upgraded from a Classic island. Islands that were made specifically for the new Poptropica are pretty good though. Ever noticed that the buggiest islands are Mythology, Time Tangled, 24 Carrot, and Poptropolis Games, and the smoothest islands are Monster Carnival, Mission Atlantis, and Survival? Yep, now you see it. The older islands just aren't designed for the new engine. I say, let the classic islands stay in peace. Also, the Classic islands that were upgraded have one other quirk:

Main-area rooms (like Main Street and going right/left from it) are at normal size and look all nice, but inside rooms (like Carrot King Diner) are obviously zoomed up. So zoomed up that you can even see the blur on the edges of objects. (That's why the Zeus battle was harder: you can't see Zeus until he's very close to you). Lazy job, or what? What do you think?
